General information

Here at Your counselling service we offer appointments during the day, most evenings and at the weekend.

Counselling sessions last for 50 minutes and they are totally confidential.

Our therapy rooms are quiet and upstairs so that you can feel safe to talk about what is happening for you in a calm and supportive environment.

Initial assessments usually take a bit longer, and last an hour. This is because your therapist has to ask a lot of questions in order to understand you more and to see which treatment would suit you best. It is also a good opportunity for you to make sure that you feel comfortable, as therapy is a two way relationship.

We would agree a time and day for your therapy. This space will be reserved and booked weekly for you. If you can’t make a session, we will always try and offer you a different day and time so that you don’t have to miss it. If you cannot attend the alternative session, then missed sessions will be charged for.

Please note that we are offer both short term (6-12 weeks), and long term (open ended) counselling.  The length of counselling really depends on where you are at, and what you are looking for help with.  This can all be discussed In your initial assessment.

Where we are

We are based on London road In in the centre of St Albans.

Our premises is just opposite London road car park and A plan insurance. If you look at Blue Arrow recruitment you will see an ally just to the right of it.  There is a plaque with a list of company names.  Your counselling service will clearly be displayed on here for you to see.

Just down the ally on the left there is a black door.  Here you will see an intercom system. If you press the next button it will take you to your counselling service (ycs).  You can then press call.

We will always let you know which room you need- YCS2 or YCS3.  We also have a waiting area upstairs if you arrive early.
